Our
purpose
is to encourage all to make a decided effort to lift the cross of Jesus in their
daily lives. It is our goal to provide ideas and resources to help you “lift
the cross” as an individual and as you gather with like-minded followers in
groups. Together we make a movement. As we “lift” Jesus Christ and
His cross work the world will be changed.

The Mission And Ministry
of
THE CHRISTIAN JOURNAL
Who What Where When Why How
(Gudelines for writing)
WHO
The
Christian Journal is owned and operated by Set Free Christian Fellowship
of Medford, Oregon. Set Free is a non-denominational ministry that
strives to serve people in their journey of grace, freedom and power in
Jesus Christ. Set Free works to build people in their relationship
and experience with Jesus. This means serving people no matter where they
attend worship services.
WHAT
The
Christian Journal is a non-denominational Christian newspaper that is
published in Medford, Oregon. It was started in 1998 as a quarterly
publication, became a bi-monthly paper in 2001 and a monthly paper in
2004. The purpose of The Christian Journal is to lift up Jesus Christ,
encourage, inspire and network believers, and to entice non-believers
into considering accepting Jesus Christ. Articles are intentionally
designed to center on people’s experience with God rather than a
specific theology.
WHERE
The
Christian Journal is distributed in Southern Oregon and Northern California. Cities
in Oregon include Ashland, Brookings, Cave Junction, Central Point, Eagle
Point, Gold Hill, Grants Pass, Jacksonville, Klamath Falls, Medford, Phoenix,
Rogue River, Ruch, Talent, and White City. Cities in California include
Mt. Shasta and Yreka. Subscriptions take The Christian Journal over much
of the United States. A link with Light Walk Prison Ministry takes
the paper to inmates on their mailing list.
WHEN
The
Christian Journal is published monthly on or near the first of the month. Writer’s
deadlines are the 15th of the previous month and sponsor (advertiser)
deadlines are the 20th of the previous month. The Christian Journal
is distributed over it’s territory and hundreds of locations during
the first 10 days of the month.
WHY
The
Christian Journal believes that believers and non-believers alike need
constant support, encouragement, inspiration and networking to be strong
in their personal Christian experience. A free, monthly publication
is non-threatening. It is available at churches, businesses, restaurants
and retail locations. People see it, are inspired by the Holy Spirit
and pick it up on their own. The Christian Journal is designed to
spark the reader to consider his or her connection with God. There
are scripture references to lead the reader to God’s Word. There
are personal stories of faith that strengthen the reader. There are
stories of ministries and other believers that initiate networking. There
are notices and advertisements of Christian events that bring believers
together. Even the display advertisements of sponsors help make connections.

Some may
want to begin a Christian newspaper in their own town or state. The
staff at The Christian Journal is ready to offer support and encouragement
in starting Christian newspapers across this nation. For a small
investment and the support of Christian sponsors (advertisers) in your
area you can have your own Christian newspaper. The staff at The
Christian Journal has already produced many issues that can be purchased,
downloaded and revamped to fit a new location. Many of the articles
will work in any population. The name of the publication can be changed,
ads can be changed, announcements can be changed, but the developer is
far ahead by starting with our template. Most issues are on topics
that can be chosen to fit your desire and location. Email
